Manicou River Resort sits on 9.5 acres of elevated land (rising to circa
350ft) enjoying privacy, panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea, coconut
palmed river frontage and is within walking distance to the sandy
beaches of Douglas and Prince Rupert Bays.
We are located inside The Everton Hall Estate. Formerly a banana
plantation and subsequently planted with lime trees for Rose's Lime Cordial, the Estate was last
planted with Bay Trees for production of Bay Oil. Though commercial use
ceased some years ago, there are many Bay trees on the land and indeed
other tropical fruit trees and plants. Along the river boundary there
are plentiful mango tress and a huge Vanilla Orchid Vine. We are
committed to organically growing fruits, vegetables and herbs. We are
currently planting an organic kitchen garden and fruit orchard.
Approximately 15% of the land will be used for building the resort. This
will leave a substantial amount of land for nature trails. The lodges
are connected to the other amenities by hand cut footpaths and stairs of
natural materials. All areas have low impact solar lighting. We are
taking special care to preserve the forest in its original form and
maintain the current trees and wild life.
The only products allowed inside the resort are 100% natural &
biodegradable. Please note that shower and basin water is used for plant
irrigation. We can supply you with all you will need during your stay
from products produced here on Natures Isle.
